There's nothing I enjoy more than a baby photo shoot, now that my own children are growing up (too quickly!).
I always allow longer for a newborn/baby photoshoot as babies are unpredictable and regardless of how good their routine is normally, may choose the moment I arrive to have a very deep sleep..
Jacques here, slept for all but 10 minute of the shoot, despite my usual tricks and his mother's attempts to wake him.. but luckily I managed to get some shots with his eyes open.
The photos I took of him asleep are also some of my favourites, because they really demonstrate his mother's love and her bond to him..
"We loved the shoot. Emily made us all feel totally relaxed and was great at being creative to engage our two pocket rocket boys (with props, conversation and changing the setting regularly). Emily certainly brought out the best in the boys and we all enjoyed it enormously, which was unexpected for a professional photo shoot!
We're absolutely delighted with our photos - the only hard bit was choosing our favourites!", Sion and Rachael Richards.
Sometimes clients ask to use props in photos. For example one client loved boxing, and we played a bit with the boxing gloves in a few of the photos.
Plus some examples of other shoots, with and without props. The bottom one was taken for an alternative family Christmas card
"Nous sommes très contents des photos qu Emily a prises de nos enfants! Nous avons eu plein de compliments de la part de nos familles et amis! La séance photo était tres agréable et Emily a su capter l attention de nos garçons! Ce qui n est pas une mince affaire!! Emily était à l écoute de ce que nous souhaitions. La sélection et les retouches des photos se sont faites très facilement. Merci Emily!" Les Penins
and in english, "We were very pleased with the photos that Emily took of our children! We've received lots of compliments from friends and family! the photo session was very fun and Emily captured our sons attention, which is no mean feat!! Emily listened to our requests and took these in hands. The editing and retouching was done v well and with great ease. Thanks Emily!"
"We had a very easy and enjoyable morning with Emily. She was able to keep the whole session relaxed and easy going which was especially important with three children in tow. The memory photo book Emily created for us captured our London life perfectly. We will cherish it now and probably even more in years to come".
I spent a morning with the Nangles in Clapham and took lots of photographs of their day to day lives for a memory book which they've taken back with them to Ireland. We did some of the things they've most enjoyed doing whilst in London.
I prefer to take shots, where families are most comfortable, for example I spent a morning with the Godmans at their home in Wandsworth.
It's there Saturday morning tradition to make "a Godman sandwich", and their youngest, was keen they re enact it for me. It's one of the shots I've chosen to show here, for me it's the one that shows their fun loving characters (and I don't think many families would let me post this kind of pic) . They have a gorgeous couple of cheeky girls..
"We all enjoyed the photo shoot with Emily so much. Emily was great fun and very calm with our two very over excited daughters, who immediately fell in love with her! Emily helped to relax us all and came up with lots of interesting and fun ideas. It was a really playful and happy experience. We loved all our photos!!" Katie Godman.
Some more lovely quotes from other families..
"Emily's friendly yet professional manor made shooting the photos a fun and relaxed experience. The resulting photos are beautiful, natural looking pictures of our family". The Marsdens
"We couldn't have asked for a better photographer or way to spend my son's fifth birthday. We were keen to have shots that were natural and fun, as well as, having a few that were more posed. Emily worked incredibly hard and well with our group giving suggestions and ways to get the best variety of shots. It's never easy keeping up with the temperaments of two active boys and one who'd much rather be having cake by the end of the shoot! But Emily took her time and went with the flow - a crucial skill when dealing with little people! She has managed to capture my boys in a way that is unique to their personality and our family in a way which represents us a whole load of love and chaos!! Thank you so much we will treasure these shots." Asifa
"Baltsar was not even two weeks old when Emily came to our home for a baby photo shoot. Emily absolutely loves babies and she made us feel very relaxed, even though our baby boy was crying most of the time. We're actually glad he did cry - the result of the photo session was some beautiful pictures capturing those first magical moments of baby cry soothed by parental comfort. Thank you Emily!" Juliette and Johan
"Thank you for the wonderful pictures. You did such an amazing job in capturing the warmth between mother and child in a unique way. I know it is hard to get pictures when both mother & child are relaxed and at ease, and you managed to do just that. Will definitely recommend you to my friends!"
I mainly photograph families out and about, but am equally happy to take shots in the studio.
I took some shots of Debora with her little girl Julia in the studio, during a morning session. Debora, has a great face, very expressive.
A dog or cat is a cherished part of any family and shouldn't be forgotten.. Here's some of our lovely four legged friends I've photographed.
As a parent you know exactly how to make children laugh out loud. Emily used these skills and produced stunning natural photographs enrapturing their natural beauty in play. She did not need a studio, but worked with our natural environment. Not only was there minimum disruption, the admin was done solely through an online system. Parents chose to delivery to the nursery or home. I would highly recommend Emily Travis.
